The Borough Council part of the Council Tax is to rise by just 2%
Council Tax is set at the Full Council meeting on 25th February
The Council Tax for Borough Council services is to rise by just 2% - the lowest rise amongst the five districts in Warwickshire. The County Council's portion will increase by 3.89% and Warwickshire Police's by 3.97%
The overall aim is to try and help North Warwickshire residents tackle the impact of the credit crunch. It means that North Warwickshire households in the Band D properties will be paying just an extra 8p a week or £4 a year for Borough Council services. These include street cleaning, refuse, recycling, housing and eisure centres.
At last Wednesday's Council meeting, Borough Councillors also agreed to give the Citizens' Advice Bureau £15,000 in 2009/10. This recognises the valuable work the organisation does to help people tackle debt.
Travel vouchers will increase from £40 to £50 for individuals and from £60 to £75 for couples. The vouchers are available to residents who do not have ready or easy access to private cars or public transport.
£10,000 was also awarded to each of North Warwickshire's Area Fora for improvement work on parks and open spaces in their respective areas.
